ReplyDeleteIn 2010, I was a Human Resource Director at The Coca-Cola Company and on top of my professional game, but something was missing (note: I had held roles at IBM 5yrs, Honeywell 2yrs and Coca-Cola 10+ yrs) so I started seeking God's plan for me and having my own business. I stumbled upon a direct sales company Mary & Martha (Formerly known as Blessings Unlimited) in 2007 and joined. I loved sharing God's Love through our products and seeing transformed lives. Then in March 2010, I was laid off from The Coca-Cola Company and decided to pursue my Mary & Martha business full time. From April to December 2010 the team grew from 18 to 100. I was honored with many awards, trips and lifelong Sisters in Christ. However, God had more. I also started my own company Miss PDW Enterprises, LLC where our mission is to Rebuild U.S. Middle Class, Wealth Creation, and to Create Jobs. This mission is accomplished via workshops, and consulting. I love working with Small Business and being a catalyst to returning America to greatness. ReplyDeleteThe following Live Your Dream Out Loud story is submitted on behalf of Kim Hawkins:
ReplyDelete"After 9/11 the travel industry took a huge nose dive. I was forced to make a decision--should I stay or should I go? I choose the latter; I left not only the travel industry, I left Corporate America! I said goodbye to its' benefits, perks and long hours. I took a huge leap of faith and started my own pet sitting business; an entrepreneur took her first official flight. It was a great experience and surprisingly many of my skills I had learned in the corporate world helped me to effectively operate my own business. That's the beauty of learning, no one can ever take that away from you.
In 2007 I took another leap of faith and got married (in my 40's)! My new married status led me to move on to my next business venture--Christian Life Coaching. As I continue to build this dream, I work with the Ladies Ministry at the church where we attend and am working to schedule speaking engagements for 2015. The purpose in sharing my story is to encourage other women; it's not too late to pursue your dreams. You may find yourself in a job wondering why you are where you are but God has big plans for you! That job which seems insignificant is serving a purpose as a stepping stone along the path laid out for you by the Master Planner leading to the abundance He has in store for you.
I get to dream big by coaching, cheering and caring for women who need someone to encourage them with everyday life."

DeleteGrowing up I had HUGE dreams. I had life all figured out and I knew it was going to work out in my favor. However, life had other plans. It wasn't going to be easy for me. I ended up side tracked and derailed early in life by bad choices. By the time I was 21 years old I was in an abusive marriage and had little time for dreams. Verbal and physical abuse is so damaging to your self-esteem. Before I knew what was happening, I had forgotten how to dream (big or small). At the age of 27, with my marriage ending, I sunk into a depression. All my hopes and dreams had been lost and shattered. I was a single mother of two babies and I felt like nothing. The road back has not been an easy one but God knows how to send us what we need when we need it. In 2009, I married a man that really knew how to love me back to life. In 2011, I found myself slipping into another depression and he was there to get me the help I needed. It was during this time that I was really able to get honest with myself and forgive myself for the not so wise choices I had made in the past. Even though I had moved on in certain aspects of my life, I still had not forgiven myself. Once I was able to forgive myself I was able to allow myself to dream again. I began to feel like I was worthy of seeing my dreams come true. In 2012, I took up running as a way to help me remain balanced. Through running, I have learned more and more about myself. It has helped me to go after what I want in life. Running keeps me grounded. Now that I have reached this point in my life, I feel like I can finally breathe. I’m no longer in survival mode. So you may ask, “What does this have to do with having a BIG dream?” Well, I just want people to know that no matter what it’s never too late to dream. Yes, you may have lost your way, but it’s okay to forgive yourself, pick your dreams up, brush them off, and carry on. It’s never too late to reacquaint yourself with your dreams.
